How to manage date and number formats in M-Files
Posted by Sakari Heinonen (M-Files) on 07 March 2018 01:36 PM

The Date and number formats that are visible in M-Files UI are following the formatting set in Windows Regional settings on Current user or System account.
Current user regional settings can be managed from Control Panel -> Clock, Language, and Region -> Region:

 Control Panel

M-Files server uses Regional Settings of the System account and this may sometimes result in different formatting e.g. in M-Files metadata card.

For example: Server Regional Settings and formats are set to English (United Kingdom) and user has English (United States) formats set. Property "A" has an automatic calculated value using the date property "B" as a placeholder. The user sees the date property "B" value as 12/28/2017 (MM-DD-YYYY) but the automatically calculated property "A" shows the date as 28.12.2017 (DD-MM-YYYY).

System user regional settings can be controlled (=copy/reflect the current user settings to the system user) from

Control Panel -> Clock, Language, and Region -> Region -> Administrative TAB -> welcome screen and new user account settings -> Copy your current settings to: -> Welcome screen and system accounts.

System Account Settings

System Account Formats Change

After this configuration change, current user and server should have the same settings. From the above example, the date property "B" and the calculated value "A" should now both show the date as 12/28/2017 (MM-DD-YYYY).
