Gaps in Event Log or Object ID Values
Posted by Sakari Heinonen (M-Files) on 24 August 2018 03:10 PM

It is normal in M-Files operations that the IDs of the vault events or objects within an object type are not continuous. During M-Files operations, object IDs and event IDs etc. other ID values are reserved at the time such object or event is being created. However, certain operations such as import jobs or even object creations (with for example event handler(s) creating additional objects), can fail before they are fully successful and in this case the objects which have been created are not actually committed into the vault. The IDs reserved for these objects or events are not reused so this will cause gaps.

Thus, these gaps do not indicate that some data is missing or any other problem in the system.
