Providing Error Information to M-Files Support
Posted by Sakari Heinonen (M-Files) on 24 August 2018 03:25 PM

In the unfortunate situation you happen to encounter an error in M-Files, you can usually find a button labeled 'Details' in the error dialogue. The extra error data found when clicking the button is called an "error stack", which is very useful for M-Files support to investigate the issue in more detail as it includes more in-depth information about the error. When submitting a ticket, please copy and paste this error stack text in full to the support request.

If you see errors in any M-Files client and you are running M-Files server, which is of a different version, please provide us with the M-Files server version information as well (for example 12.9.6726.7).

The version identifier at the end of the error stack comes from the application reporting the error, but some of the lines in the error stack may actually come from the server side. If we are unaware of the version of the server as well, we are unable to investigate the stack trace for the server part.
