Why does the M-drive show different available free space to users?
Posted by Yvette Chappell (M-Files) on 24 August 2018 10:39 PM

The M-Files Client includes a virtual M: drive. The virtual M-Files drive does not, in fact, take up any space from your actual hard drive.

The Windows Operating System requires drives to report their capacity and the amount of free space available in File Explorer. The default reported size of the M-Files drive is 1 terabyte, and the amount of reported free space is 90 percent. The size of the M: drive does not show the actual space left on the M-Files Server but the free space available on the client computer.
