M-Files User Password Complexity

Overview

This document describes technical details of M-Files user password complexity.

Impacted Products and Versions

M-Files version 10.0 and later.

Different Users

M-Files allows to use two different kind of users. The user can be an M-Files internal user, or user can use Windows credentials to login.

Password Complexity

For Windows users the complexity is set by Windows policies, that are either local policies or set from domain policies.

For M-Files users the complexity rules are:

  • Passwords must be at least 8 characters long.
  • They must contain characters from three of the following four categories:
    • English uppercase characters (A through Z).
    • English lowercase characters (a through z).
    • Base 10 digits (0 through 9).
    • Non-alphabetic characters (for example, !, $, #, %).
