Saving from Outlook fails with error: "Error loading type library/DLL. (0x80029C4A)"

Problem description:

When saving an email from Outlook to M-Files either through the M-Files folder in Outlook or from M-Files ribbon, user encounters error message:

    "SaveToMFilesThread.cpp, 181, Error loading type library/DLL. (0x80029C4A)"

Cause: This issue can be seen if you have downgraded the Microsoft Office and Outlook to a previous version, and the uninstallation has left registry information
that is not valid with the current Outlook version.

Solution:

One possible solution is to clean the registry keys left from the previous installation, with following instructions:

*** Please note that modifying the Windows registry may potentially harm the system and should only be performed with due care and consideration.

Step 1/2:

1. Close all Microsoft Office applications
2. Open the "Windows Registry Editor": Start, Run, regedit
3. Navigate to following registry paths. Paths are dependent on the Office/Windows version used (32 or 64 bit)

    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Interface\{00063001-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}\TypeLib
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\WOW6432Node\Interface\{00063001-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}\TypeLib
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Classes\Interface\{00063001-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}\TypeLib

4. Locate registry key that has (Default) entry with value {00062FFF-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}
5. Under this key there should be  Version entry with value, that matches the Outlook version currently installed.

  Outlook 2010  9.4
  Outlook 2013  9.5
  Outlook 2016  9.6

Step 2/2:

1. Navigate to registry path: "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\TypeLib\{00062FFF-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}".
2. Delete the registry key(s) having a version number not matching the currently installed Outlook version.

Example: If you are not using Outlook version 2016, remove the entry for "9.6". Be aware not to delete the entry checked in previous step, that is currently used.

3. Close the registry editor.
4. Restart your system for the changes to take effect.

If the issue is still seen, try reinstalling Outlook.
