Error message: 'jQuery' is undefined

When trying to launch M-Files, similar error messages are displayed:
CustomControlSite.cpp, 1051, 'jQuery' is undefined (0x80040008)
CustomControlSite.cpp, 1051, Object doesn't support this property or method (0x80040008)
CustomControlSite.cpp, 1051, '$' is undefined (0x80040008)
CustomControlSite.cpp, 1051, Object expected (0x80040008)
This is a common error in Windows 7 and Windows Server versions that have Internet Explorer 10 installed by default. IE10 lacks certain element handling functions needed to render the M-Files user interface and an error is generated.
The issue is resolved by updating Internet Explorer to latest version (version 11 at the time of writing).
M-Files versions 2018 and Online, i.e. all above version 12.
