An example of a custom placeholder in metadata card configuration
Posted by Ville Karinen (M-Files) on 29 March 2019 03:12 PM

Using a custom placeholder in metadata card configuration rules consists of two steps:

  1. Define a custom placeholder.
  2. Assign the placeholder's value as a dynamic value for some property.

The image below illustrates an example configuration where:

  • Each user has an Employee object that includes metadata about the user. Among the metadata is the user's M-Files user account.
  • When an object includes the Employee property, the current user's own Employee object is assigned to the Employee property automatically.
