1     Overview

In some cases, an error like "The parameter is incorrect. (Application "<application name>" does not have a checksum.) (0x80070057)" may occur when user tries to open an M-Files document vault.

2     Solution

Destroying local data via M-Files Desktop Settings will solve this issue in most cases. Note, however, that this operation will destroy everything in user's local data location, including e.g. all the changes to the checked-out documents or other objects that the user possibly has.

Local data can be destroyed this way:

  • Log out from M-Files (select the M-Files drive (by default M:) in Windows File Explorer, right-click your document vault there and select Log Out).
  • Click the M-Files icon in the notification area of Windows task bar, select Settings and M-Files Desktop Settings.
  • In the M-Files Desktop Settings window, select Settings tab and then Computer-specific Settings > Destroy Local Data… > Select the document vault-user combination that the problem concerns and select Destroy. Remember that this will destroy everything in user's local data location, including any changes to currently checked-out objects.

If user has done any important changes to the checked-out documents or other objects that must not be lost, please contact M-Files Support first. Some more info about destroying local data is available in user guide.
