Creating New Document Collection Option Missing From Create Button

1     Overview

In our user guide, the steps indicated to create a Document Collection state to click on the Create button at the top and select Document Collection. By default, this option is missing.

2     Enable the Option

Through the M-Files Administrator tool, this option can be enabled to show so that rather than going to File > Create > Document Collection, the option can appear under the Create button. Perform the following steps to enable it:

  1. Open the M-Files Administrator application.
  2. Expand the vault in question and expand Metadata Structure Flat View.
  3. Click on Object Types, and then click in middle area where it states to "Show Built-In Object Types. This will show Document Collection.
  4. Right click on Document Collection and go to Properties.
  5. Place a checkbox on "Show the creation command in the task area" and click OK.

Note: It will likely require the end user to Log Out of the vault then back in so that the option will appear under the Create button.
