1     Overview

By default, M-Files Server is not able to index AutoCAD .DWG files for their content to appear on M-Files searches. This article describes an easy way to enable indexing the file contents of .DWG file type.

2     Solution / Workaround

There are two ways to get the .DWG files indexed so that M-Files searches can fully utilize their content:

Solution 1:          Install AutoCAD software onto server that hosts M-Files Server services. This will also install the required files to enable content indexing.

Solution 2:          If installation of AutoCAD on the server is not possible or is unfeasible, then you would need to install DWG IFilter software, available at. Please note that IFilter add-on is not free to use and is provided by a 3rd party vendor.

Note also that rebuilding the full-text search indexes is needed after either AutoCAD or IFilter server installation.
