Event log error: Unable to complete the background task with the type “RemoveObjectProperty”
Posted by Peter Sandberg (M-Files) on 29 August 2019 11:55 AM

1     Overview

After updating to M-Files June update or later, the Windows Event log will continuously show the following error:

Unable to complete the background task with the type "RemoveObjectProperty" and ID "XXXX".

    Error: Unknown property definition "XXXX".

AsyncTask_RemoveObjectProperty.cpp, xxx, Unknown property definition "XXXX". (0x80040073)

AsyncTask_RemoveObjectProperty.cpp, xxx, Unknown property definition "XXXX". (0x80040073)

AsyncTask_RemoveObjectProperty.cpp, xxx, Unknown property definition "XXXX". (0x80040073)

AsyncTask_RemoveObjectProperty.cpp, xxx, Unknown property definition "XXXX". (0x80040073)

RPCPropertyDefsHelper.cpp, xxxx, Unknown property definition "XXXX". (0x80040073)

RPCPropertyDefsHelper.cpp, xxxx, Unknown property definition "XXX". (0x80040073)

2     Cause and Reason

The issue can be seen if you delete a custom Property from a Class and then delete the Property. This will cause consistent errors to be generated to Windows Event logs every few minutes.

3     Solution / Workaround

This is a known issue and still existing in M-Files August update, the fix has been prioritized high and is available in coming M-Files updates.

The bug ID number 152003 can be tracked in the release notes, that can be found from here:  https://www.m-files.com/en/release-notes
