*** The update to fix the Windows 10 Creators Update M-Files menu and driver signing issue is available, see below ***

Microsoft released Windows 10 Creators update 1703 for general availability on April 11th, 2017 for manual installation via Windows 10 Upgrade Assistant and Media Creation Tool tools.

M-Files and Windows 10 1703 Creators Update Menu issue

It has been discovered, that in versions before 2015.3 SR 3 (11.3.4330.243) of M-Files Desktop, the top menu shows abnormal behavior after installing the Windows 10 Creators update. The "New", "Operations", "Settings" and "Help" menus are missing, and most menu items in the remaining menus are absent. For example, the File menu only has the "Close" command in it.

In addition to missing menu items, the following error note may appear occasionally when accessing views:

CustomControlSite.cpp, 1051, A menu item was not found. (0x800705B0)
M-Files Compliance Home Screen: home_common.js, 95, A menu item was not found. (0x800705B0)
MDispatchExImpl.h, 665, A menu item was not found. (0x800705B0)
MDispatchExImpl.h, 812, A menu item was not found. (0x800705B0)
CoScriptDelegate_ShellWindowContent.cpp, 1618, A menu item was not found. (0x800705B0)
ShellFrameWnd.cpp, 11301, A menu item was not found. (0x800705B0)

Windows 10 1703 Creators Update and M-Files installation issue

There have been cases where the installation of the M-Files Desktop Client is stopped by an error after the installation of Windows 10 Creators update. Affected systems have had the optional Microsoft Secure Boot activated by the PC manufacturer. The following error message is displayed in addition to the error message "Starting the service "MFClient <version>" failed. The dependency service or group failed to start.". The driver signing issue has been resolved with Microsoft in the M-Files 2015.3 SR 3 update.

The menu and driver signing issues have now been resolved in M-Files 2015.3 SR 3 version 11.3.4330.243 and later

The update was released on September 20th, 2017.

If installing the M-Files 2015.3 SR 3 update or M-Files 2018 is not feasible for you, the other workaround is to roll back to Windows 10 version 1607 (Anniversary Update):

To uninstall Creators Update, go to Start > Settings and click on 'Update & security'.
Click the Recovery link and then click on 'Get started' under 'Go back to the previous version of Windows 10.'
Windows will now ask you why you are going back to the previous version. The reason for the rollback is "My apps or devices don’t work on this build".
Note that you may need to reinstall some apps and programs, and you will lose any changes you made to Settings after installing the Creators Update. It is also recommended that you backup your files before attempting rollback. Click on the 'Go back to earlier build' button and the rollback will begin.
